On Friday evening, I received a text from a group of friends.
“Rachel, have you seen this?”
This message came as a surprise, during a time of stress – I was in the parking lot at the emergency vet, worried as heck about my pup.
Once again, writing was something that brought me back to center. Lifted me up.
I moved to Denver nearly five years ago, and it’s here that my writing career began. If I hadn’t moved here, I’m unsure if I ever would have taken this leap.
On Friday evening, 5280 Magazine’s Top of the Town awards were announced, and me (yes, me) was awarded “Top Denver Author.”
This recognition is special because this is where my journey began. This is the place where I’ve worked hard to cultivate a community. Where I’ve grown as a creative.
For me, there’s no stopping here. Everything about 2020 has demanded that we “slow down” and even “stop.” Right now, I can confidently say that I am hungrier than ever before. What comes next is vital.
With the news of this humbling and wonderful award, I am thrilled to share that my next poetry collection AT WAR WITH STARS, will be released this fall. This work culminates and represents my journey towards a more experimental and introspective style of writing. I am proud of this manuscript, and cannot wait to share it with the Denver community and all of my readers around the world.
Friends, thank you for being on this ride with me.
All of the love,
R.R. Noall
